Our recreational program introduces dancers to a variety of different mainstream dance styles in which the dancers can stay physically fit and creatively stimulated.  In our recreational program dancers have the opportunity to take just 1 dance class or multiple classes. The dancers receive high quality training and perform in our spectacular year end recital as well as in the local Galaxy Dance Festival.

Teen Program: Ballet, Tap, Modern, Musical Theater, Lyrical, Hip Hop

Our Teen program is a great half-way program between Recreational & Competitive. In our Teen program dancers have the opportunity to take just 1 dance class or multiple classes. Dancers do not participate in exams. Teen dancers have the opprotunity to perform solos or duets if taking the full program.

Competitive Programs: Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Musical Theatre, Modern/Contemporary, Hip Hop and Lyrical

RSDA is recognized for our excellence in qualified dance training and our award winning competitive performers! Our competitive dancers perform at competitions and festivals around Southern and Central Alberta and have won prestigious awards such as "Great Canadian Dance Challenge" Crystal Challenge Dance Off  (2 years in a row) as well as Dance Invasion and Dance Evolution Dance Off Awards. Our teachers also receive countless choreography awards for their innovating and age appropriate choreography.

RSDA offers a well rounded competitive training program in which dancers receive national exam certification through the ADAPT syllabus. Training for standardized exams is an important part of competitive training as it encourages each student to work hard to achieve their personal best potential, enhances strong performance abilities, gives certification for their efforts, and also ensures the dancers are achieving the same technical progress as dancers across the country.

In the past few years RSDA has also been able to provide international travel and performances to those looking for further opportunities. These dance trips are not mandatory for our competitive dancers, but are provided as a further source of enrichment.
